Healthcare costs more closely aligned for privately insured patients versus those on Medicare

2011 coding changes

The best way to maximize payment from insurers for the services your practice provides to patients is to keep your knowledge current regarding American Medical Association (AMA) Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) coding so that you correctly report your services to the payers the first time you submit a claim. CPT changes have a profound effect on your practice from year to year, although the specific effect often depends on your specialty. The changes implemented for 2011 are no different. Medicare annual wellness visits
now paid

According to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), "The Affordable Care Act (ACA) extends the preventive focus of Medicare coverage, which currently pays for a one-time initial preventive physical examination (IPPE or the "Welcome to Medicare Visit"), to provide coverage for annual wellness visits in which beneficiaries will receive personalized prevention plan services (PPPS)."
