A new therapy for children who relapse after initial treatment for acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL)—chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cells—offers hope but can also bring with it numerous physical and emotional roller-coaster ride–type experiences for the child and the parents. Primary care PNPs, FNPs, and pediatric nurses must design care plans that enable these children, their parents, and family members—including siblings—to cope emotionally and physically throughout this new treatment option.
