Codeine use in children after surgery

High calcium in women linked to CVD

High intakes of calcium in women are associated with higher death rates from all causes and from cardiovascular disease, but not from stroke. This is the conclusion of a prospective longitudinal cohort study conducted by researchers in Sweden and published in the British Medical Journal. » Full article

Type 2 diabetes- A focus on new guidelines

According to the American Diabetes Association, 18.8 million people in the United States have been diagnosed with diabetes, and another 7 million are thought to have the disease but have not yet been diagnosed. An additional 79 million Americans have prediabetes, which is a condition that indicates that the patient has a high risk for developing diabetes. The majority of patients with diabetes are 20 years old or older, of whom about 13 million are men and 12.6 million are women. In 2010, about 1.9 million people aged 20 years or older were newly diagnosed with diabetes.
