LCGC TV: The Future of 2D LC in Food Analysis
Comprehensive liquid chromatography (LC) is a multidimensional technique that has the potential to increase peak capacity resolution when separating complex mixtures, especially in food analysis. In this new video from LCGC TV, Luigi Mondello from the University of Messina, Italy, gives examples of specific areas where 2D LC is important and where it has improved the speed and sensitivity of separations.
Automated Solid-Phase Extraction of Base, Neutral and Acid Semi Volatiles in Waste Water
Solid-Phase Extraction has long been used for the analysis of semi-volatile organics in clean matrices. Due to the unique challenges inherent with waste water matrices adhered to LLE protocols. Advances in packing materials and the new automated FMS TurboTrace ABN SPE extraction system are now making extractions of difficult matrices commonplace for SPE. Register for a webinar on September 23rd to learn how improve the quality and throughput for your laboratories extractions. Learn more
New FDA Guidance on Analytical Methods Provides General Approach, but Few Details
The new US FDA guidance document, Analytical Procedures and Method Validation for Drugs and Biologics, is very general in nature. Anyone hoping for specific recommendations on topics such as which methods to use will be disappointed. Industry experts, however, say that it really isn’t feasible for the FDA to provide detailed recommendations about analytical methods for biopharmaceuticals.

The Column: Modern Sample Preparation Methods for POPs
Persistent organic pollutants (POPs) pose an on-going threat to human health, but are often trapped within environmental samples, thereby making analysis challenging. Bethany Degg of The Column spoke to Lourdes Ramos from the Department of Instrumental Analysis and Environmental Chemistry Institute of Organic Chemistry of the CSIC (Madrid, Spain) about her innovative research on new sample preparation methods for POPs.
Compact Single Channel GC
The 200 series GC from Ellutia is a cost effective single channel gas chromatograph. Available with a choice of detectors (FID, TCD, ECD or FPD), a split/split-less injector and full programmable pressure control. The compact footprint also makes it ideal for laboratories where space is of a premium. Find out how a 200 Series can help with you analysis today.

Event Review: ISCC and 12th GCXGC Symposium
The 39th International Symposium on Capillary Chromatography (ISCC) and the 12th GCxGC Symposium held in Fort Worth in Texas, USA, were rousing successes with nearly double the participation of the previous U.S. meetings. Scientists from 23 countries (or 24 if you count Texas as a country) attended to hear over 90 lectures and peruse nearly 150 posters covering the latest research on multidimensional separations, microfluidic and capillary separations, sample preparation instrumentation development, and much more.

News: Refining the Art of Arteriovenous Profiling of Blood
Profiling blood samples for biomarker discovery is a well-established technique, but often requires hundreds (ideally thousands) of samples to identify new biomarkers of disease. Researchers have revisited arteriovenous profiling — comparing changes in the metabolome of arterial versus venous blood in the diagnosis of disease — using targeted and untargeted LC–MS methods in a new study published in Scientific Reports.
