LCGC TV: Joe Glajch Part 2: Demonstrating Characterization of Biologics & FDA Expectations
Joe Glajch, a member of the LCGC Editorial Advisory Board and the director of analytical development at the biosimilars company Momenta Pharmaceuticals, talks about what the FDA expect when demonstrating characterization of biologics and how to address lot-to-lot variability in the reference product.
A Hyphenated, Green, Economical approach for Extracting Compounds of Interest from Food.
Pressurized Liquid Extraction is a “green” technology that replaces techniques like Sohxlet which is time intensive and requires large volumes of organic solvent. Used primarily for the extraction of compounds of interest from Food, Semi Solid and Solid sample matrices. This webinar discusses the extraction principles and the optimization of the extraction parameters that improves the extraction efficiency. The use of combined and hyphenated sample preparation and analytical techniques are presented. The use of combined and hyphenated results in a substantial decrease in the amount of sample, solvent, labor and time used with better efficiency and selectivity.

Triglycerides in Vegetable Oils using Gas Chromatography
Fats and oils are parts of normal daily consumptions and are considered as important nutrients in human diets. Almost all of commercially fats and oils of animal or plant origin consist of the lipid class called triglycerides (or triacylglycerols). GC is one of the most employed analytical techniques for analyzing lipid and fatty acids content of vegetable oils. Here are reported profiles of different vegetable oils triglycerides analysis, using efficient short MEGA-SE52 GC column; the use of shorter columns with Cold On-Column injection type allows to minimize the thermal degradation of these compounds thus permitting a correct quantification. Tips & Tricks GPC/SEC: How to Care for your GPC/SEC Instrument
Columns are at the heart of a gel permeation/size-exclusion chromatography (GPC/SEC) system. Software is used to evaluate the data, to understand and present the results, and to act as an interface between the analyst and the system. But what about GPC/SEC pumps, injection systems, and detectors? They should run uninterrupted 24/7, without the analyst having to think about them or to deal with them, but these components also need care. Following some simple rules can give better results in less time.

VOC and SVOC analysis TSKgel Amide-80 for UHPLC
Markes’ suite of thermal desorption instruments for GC analysis of VOCs and SVOCs range from single-tube manual systems through to automated multi-tube or multi-canister platforms. All these instruments bring enhanced productivity, reduced running costs and confidence in data, whatever the application – courtesy of the wide-ranging innovations developed by Markes, which include single-run analysis of C2–C44, cryogen-free operation, and quantitative sample re-collection for re-analysis. Learn more TSKgel Amide-80 is now available in 2 micron particle size. For years, TSKgel Amide-80 columns are used successfully for HILIC separations of polar compounds such as saccharides, glycans, oligosaccharides, or peptides. The amide chemistry is particularly popular for glycosylation analysis of proteins. The new small particle size columns deliver higher resolution and peak capacity and are ideally suited for UHPLC and UHPLC-MS. Learn more
