Analyzing Antarctic Ice Cores Using Capillary IC
Ice cores contain an abundance of information about climate and the changes it is undergoing. Brett Paull and Estrella Sanz Rodriguez from the Australian Centre for Research on Separation Science (ACROSS) at the University of Tasmania, Hobart, Australia, spoke to LCGC about their work on the analysis of Antarctic ice cores and the important role of capillary ion chromatography (cap-IC) in this area of research.

Low-Pressure GC and UHPLC Analysis of Environmental Contaminants in Meats
A team of researchers has developed a high-throughput analysis method for 192 diverse pesticides and 51 environmental contaminants (13 polychlorianted biphenyl [PCB] congeners, 14 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons [PAHs], seven polybrominated diphenyl ethers [PBDE] congeners, and 17 novel flame retardants) in cattle, swine, and poultry meats.

A method for the determination of pyrethroids in water at ultra-low-level concentrations of 0.02 and 0.10ng/mL was developed using solid-phase extraction (SPE) for pre-concentration and subsequent analysis by GC with PTV injection.
