Debby Mangelings, LCGC North America's 2016 Emerging Leader Award Winner, Focuses on Chiral Separations
Debby Mangelings, the winner of the 2016 LCGC North America's Emerging Leader in Chromatography award, is an associate professor in the Department of Analytical Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technology at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, in Brussels, Belgium. Mangelings's work has focused primarily on chiral separations. She recently spoke to LCGC about her scientific background, interests, and recent work.
A Cost Effective Option for Laboratories to Optimize Sample Preparation
Laboratories around the world invest a lot of time and money developing methods to ensure an economical and consistent workflow for monitoring waste water and drinking water, to stay competitive.  Automation can make this possible. However, given the financial constraints that labs face, the purchase of Capital Equipment is difficult and sometimes impossible. Going in for a Chemistry Rental Program can help resolve the situation. To Learn how Register for a webinar on May 11, 2016. Learn more

Trends in Sample Preparation
The results obtained from a new survey on sample preparation techniques were compared with the results of previous surveys from 1991 to March 2013. The survey investigated trends in technologies currently being used, sample loads, sample sizes, automation, the use of solid-phase extraction (SPE) devices (cartridges, disks, plates, tips), SPE chemistries, selection criteria, and problems encountered.

Research into honeybee venom is being performed to identify active proteins acting as allergens and toxins. Researchers combined LC–MALDI-TOF/TOF-MS–MS, LC–ESI-QTOF-MS–MS, and a combinatorial peptide ligand library enrichment method to detect 269 proteins.

Featured Products
TSKgel Amide-80 for UHPLC YMC SFC Columns
TSKgel Amide-80 is now available in 2 micron particle size. For years, TSKgel Amide-80 columns are used successfully for HILIC separations of polar compounds such as saccharides, glycans, oligosaccharides, or peptides. The amide chemistry is particularly popular for glycosylation analysis of proteins. The new small particle size columns deliver higher resolution and peak capacity and are ideally suited for UHPLC and UHPLC-MS.
