Selectivity: Are You Making the Most of It?

"High efficiency may make our lives easier, but it cannot and will not ever improve a separation where the selectivity of the system is unable to chemically distinguish between improperly separated analytes." Incognito asks if you understand the benefits of selectivity as a method development opportunity? Read more

LCGC TV: Kimber Barnett on Quality by Design: What It Reveals

By applying an enhanced approach, a greater understanding of the methods used in a shorter amount of time can be obtained. Kimber Barnett from Pfizer discusses if using an enhanced (or Quality-by-Design) approach to chromatographic method development revealed the severity of effect of any specific method parameter that may have been missed if another approach was taken. New Evidence of Bitumen Trade Found Using GC–MS

Researchers investigating fragments of black organic matter found scattered at the 7th century ship-burial at Sutton Hoo, Suffolk, UK, have discovered the material is not what it was originally identified as. A reinvestigation of the Sutton Hoo tars was undertaken using FTIR, GC–MS, and EA-IRMS. The surface morphology of the fragments was also examined by optical microscopy and RTI. Read more
