US initiatives to reduce maternal mortality globally

To help combat maternal mortality rates globally, the US government has invested more than $15 billion since 2008 in innovative measures to accelerate reduction in deaths. These efforts are led by the US Agency for International Development (USAID).

Maternal death from intracranial hemorrhage

The patient in this legal case alleged that the family physician deviated from the accepted standard of medical care by failing to adequately diagnose and treat her condition or refer her to an obstetrician and, as a result, the patient suffered severe injury which caused her death.
