Lilly Shuffles Staff, Cuts Thousands of Jobs
Eli Lilly is following the lead of Pfizer and J&J by restructuring its pharma division into separate business units with new leaders running each segment. The bad news is that 5,500 jobs will be left on the cutting room floor as part of the plan.

J&J Slims Down Elan Offer sans Tysabri
Elan was forced to trim $100 million off its billion-dollar deal with J&J due to a 50/50 agreement with Biogen Idec involving co-ownership of MS drug Tysabri. Now J&J is out a major drug, Elan is out a good chunk of cash, and Biogen Idec is pondering its next move.
