Pharmaceutical Sciences, Manufacturing & Marketplace Report March 13, 2013

From Cynthia Challener, PhD, Editor, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Manufacturing & Marketplace Report
Welcome to the second edition of the Pharmaceutical Sciences, Manufacturing & Marketplace Report, a new biweekly newsletter of Pharmaceutical Technology and BioPharm International, and exclusive feature of the new Pharmaceutical Technology/BioPharm International Marketplace, an online community focused on products and services for drug development and manufacturing, which will launch in April 2013.

The Pharmaceutical Sciences, Manufacturing & Marketplace Report provides insight in five main communities: solid dosage, semisolid, and specialty dosage forms; parenterals; chemical API manufacturing; biologic API manufacturing; and pharmaceutical analysis.

In time for Pittcon, In this issue industry experts discuss advances in ultra-high pressure liquid chromatography. The benefits and issues of pre-filled syringe technologies are highlighted as well. We also learn about collaborations in biocatalysis (DSM and The Almac Group) and spray-dried dispersions for increased solubility of amorphous drugs (Bend Research and The Dow Chemical Company) and a new reactor technology designed by ATMI Life Sciences specifically for fragile cell manufacturing.
