Focus: Modular Systems
Subject matter experts discuss how the shift from small-molecule to large-molecule drugs will influence facility design, the use of flexible production, and the emerging trend of modular systems.
Upstream Processing: Bioreactors
An Escherichia coli (E. coli) fermentation run conducted using the Eppendorf BioFlo 320 bioprocess control station achieved high cell density at 12 hours as determined by a maximum optical density (OD600) measurement of 215.2. The wet cell weight and dry cell weight were also measured.
Downstream Processing: Separation and Purification
Biopharmaceutical manufacturers are demanding increasingly higher filtration performance for the downstream processing of their biologic products. This article looks at recent developments in filtration technology for downstream bioprocessing applications.
Troubleshooting: Expression Systems
Protein production becomes increasingly important as more and more proteins are used as therapeutics. The optimization of protein expression is laborious but essential to increase productivity while at the same time reduce costs.
