Event Overview:
The analysis of biological fluids has been substantially aided by the development of mass spectrometry couple to liquid chromatography.  This technique has allowed the highly selective quantification and highly sensitive analysis of a wide range of compounds.  However, with increasing financial pressures many organizations are becoming more reliant of the power of mass spectrometry to isolate and quantify chemical compounds directly or with minimal sample pretreatment, rather than using the more expensive approach of introducing what can be considered complex sample preparation techniques.

This seminar will look at why the financially attractive approach is ultimately flawed.  The presentation will focus on the use of solid phase extraction and the benefits that using a high quality approach to method development can have on data integrity.  Data will be presented which looks at not just the compound of interest but also the matrix removal, with data presented from a common range of sample preparation techniques that are routinely used within a bioanalytical laboratory.

Key Learning Objectives:
  • How to optimize an SPE method
  • How to determine how clean your sample is
  • The effect that sample preparation has on removing matrix
Who Should Attend:
  • All practicing bioanalysts
  • Chromatographers interested in optimizing their sample preparation.
