Event Overview:
This three-part series of educational webinars on UHPLC will address and explain fundamental aspects of UHPLC to provide participants with insights and knowledge to help them make informed choices when they are preparing to apply UHPLC in the laboratory in practice. The webinar covers three core areas in three separate webinars.
Fundamentals of UHPLC (October 30, 2013)
- Review global aspects of analytical HPLC
- Discuss basic equations
- Explain “Van Deemter” (and other) plots for obtaining a certain plate number in the fastest way.
Optimization of UHPLC systems and column technology (November 7, 2013)
- Introduce the Kinetic Plot Method.
- Explain the role of temperature
- Why do superficially porous particles perform better than totally porous particle columns?
Practical aspects of UHPLC (December 3, 2013)
- Influence of high pressure on performance, especially frictional heating
- Requirements for UHPLC equipment
- Where does UHPLC go from here?
Key Learning Objectives:
- Understand both fundamental and practical aspects of UHPLC
- How to evaluate if a switch to UHPLC is worthwhile for your laboratory
- Learn how to optimize UHPLC methods
- Explain fundamental aspects of HPLC that led to UHPLC
- Learn how to use the Kinetic Plot Method to evaluate totally porous and superficially porous particles.
- Guidelines for instrument set-up to minimize performance losses and boost performance.
Who Should Attend:
Academic and industrial users of HPLC who have been contemplating switching to UHPLC but who lack the time in their job to prepare an overview of advantages and disadvantages, or to assess the implementation and boundary conditions of applying UHPLC in their daily practice. Participants should have a background in liquid chromatography theory. Current users of UHPLC will also find these webinars useful to learn how to optimize their methods?
