Description |
Environmental chemical analysis typically requires significant sample preparation:
Calibration of instrumentation, method development, standard mixing, adsorption/concentration steps, etc
Due to these time-consuming steps, more time is spent preparing samples for analysis than on the analysis itself. Even then, the analysis time can be considerable due to the nature of traditional methods (SPME/GC/TD) which require:
Heating/equilibrium steps, elution steps, cleaning steps, and others that come with chromatographic separation techniques.
This online workshop will demonstrate a modern approach to a range of environmental applications through use of direct, ultra-sensitive, selective, real-time, mass spectrometry.
Selected Ion Flow-tube Mass Spectrometry (SIFT-MS) is a technique that utilizes chemical ionization to quantitatively and qualitatively analyze air for nearly any chemical species. Organic compounds (BTEX, alcohols, aldehydes, formaldehyde, and more) can be measured at the same time |
This workshop content is aimed at: |
• |
Those who are looking for a new, fast, simpler approach to environmental analysis |
• |
Those who are familiar with the SIFT-MS technique but want to learn more about how this modern technique is being applied throughout the environmental industry |
• |
Those who wish to see a live demonstration of the SIFT-MS instrument in action, from method creation and sample scanning, through to data collection and analysis. |
By the end of the webinar, attendees will: |
• |
Understand how direct mass spectrometry can be utilized within the environmental industry |
• |
Understand the simplicity of the technique |
• |
Be able to compare SIFT-MS to traditional techniques |
• |
Determine the value of SIFT-MS within their research/analytical scope |
Questions and comments during the workshop are welcomed, we will aim to answer these either during the workshop itself or at the end of the live stream and live demonstrations. |
Event commences at: 10am EST / 3pm GMT / 2pm CET 27th September |
Registrants will be provided with a link to the Gotowebinar portal 2 days prior to the event. |
