For Your Techs: The twists and turns of transmission changes
What you need to pass along in your shop
Wayne Colonna, POWERTRAIN PRO publisher
As these transmission manufacturers grow along with seemingly endless technological advancements, car manufacturers are finding it to be less expensive to buy from these companies rather than producing their own. In some cases, automakers join together in designing transmissions as GM and Ford has done and is doing. They produced their front wheel drive 6-speed transmission together. It must have been a good experience for them, as they are now designing all new 9- and 10-speed transmissions for their 2016 cars, crossovers, SUVs and trucks. A hard working group of women
Tschanen Brandyberry, managing editor
While some of the topics The Leading Ladies 20 Group covers could be learned in other 20 Groups, the women-only environment is appealing to many. Fellow original member Michelle Long, vice president and shop manager of Long Car Care Center in Woodinville, Wash., adds that women in these roles are so unique, it's a great benefit to have the time to talk to people who do the same thing she does and also is empowering. ASE Question of the
Month

This week we would like to know...

ASE's Winter 2015 testing session will mark the debut of a brand new program – the L3 Light Duty Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Specialist advanced certification. We gave you a sample of what to expect in last month's ASE Question of the Month and thought we'd do a follow up this month to mark the event.

Which of the following does NOT describe a hybrid or electric vehicle design?
  1. PHEV
  2. BEV
  3. CREV
  4. EREV
Test your ASE knowledge and then enter our contest sponsored by Federated Auto Parts for a chance to win prizes each month for just answering the question.
