FABRIC TRENDS
WOMEN’S F/W 2012-13

This Fall we see a push for pure luxury in the form of fur. Long hair expressions, colored fur and new short sheared pelts are
featured. Plush panne velvet and devore are plentiful across many items, with some styles echoing a 20s flapper trend.
Wool melton is a must-have for outerwear but also speaks to the mod 60s and expands into other classifications. Classic tweed
makes an impression especially in the form of tonal and multi-colored varieties. As embellishment returns as a leading detail,
we see a renewed interest in metallic fabrics ranging from gold to silver and everything in between.

TWEED:
One of the biggest stories this Fall is the use of non modern structured material known as tweed. Grey, black and white
versions are clear but the beauty comes from the tonal colored and multi colored variety.
METALLIC:
As with embellishments we see a new renewed interest in metallic materials. There is still an air of 50’s black cross dye metallic
and no lack of full gold, silver and fun with colored metallic.

PLUSH:
Plush fabrics were plentiful on the Fall runways with more structured velveteen supporting tailored suits and trousers and panne
velvet and devore pushing a more draped 20’s flapper trend.

MELTON:
Wool melton comes on the scene as a key outerwear fabric spurred on by a strong 60’s trend holding up to Mod tailored silhouettes
and is a key material in a wide range of colors.

FUR:
Fur becomes the break out material of this Fall runway season. We see the use of long hair and newer closely sheared pelts brought
to life. New for Fall are brightly colored fur expressions.
FABRIC TRENDS
MENS F/W 2012-13

With a very strong push on tailoring this Fall, we see banker stripes, grey flannel and glen plaid trend adding dimension to
structured silhouettes. Outerwear is dominated by Fur in coats and vests and melton wool pushes the peacoat as well as mod 60’s
inspired outerwear. Suede and leather add luxe and we see both supporting more deconstructed sportswear in shirts and pants.

OLD WORLD TAILORING: BANKERS STRIPE/GREY FLANNEL
In this strong tailoring season we see banker stripes emerge in both grey flannel and ink blue combinations. Grey flannel
becomes a key structured material in suiting and more active silhouettes.

MELTON:
Wool melton becomes one of the most used outerwear fabrics in peacoat and mod 60’s silhouettes.
TWEED:
Tweed and nubby structured materials lend much needed texture to a very heavy tailoring season.

PLUSH:
There is a significant rise in velvet, velveteen and panne this season with the blazer as the focal point.

LEATHER:
Leather gets even bigger off of last season with sportswear silhouettes of shirts and pants being key.
