FILM NOIR: Evoking the mood of the 1940’s and 50’s Hollywood crime dramas, Film Noir emphasizes glamour and power with the iconic old Hollywood screen siren draped on the masculine detective suited in gangster stripes. Materials have sheen and luster, picking up subtle texture beneath the bright film lights. Suits are structured, strong and demand attention, as do tightly belted trench coats and floor length dresses. The palette is mysterious and sultry, with blood red, deep plum and mauve adding definition to a base of black and deep navy.

BOHO TAPESTRY This season’s Bohemian trend features a world traveler, pulling layers from far away journeys and mixing them with vintage finds from ancestor’s attics. There is a return to an early 70’s sensibility with paisley, worn patched denim and cozy chunky knitwear. The tapestry gets even richer with hand loomed cotton crochets, velvet burn outs and a renewed interest in long haired furs and shearling. The palette is rich with deeply saturated jewel tones of burgundy, pumpkin, blue spruce and pine, sitting on a base of leathery brown and warm nude.

MOD PREP On the road from Carnaby Street to Oxford University we find students riding Vespas and mixing traditional, varsity uniformity with streamline, mod styling. Materials embrace this mod expression with exaggerated collegiate plaids, bold athletic rugby stripes and clean line ponte supporting British 60’s silhouettes. The palette embraces the mod sensibility, with heightened jewel tones of red, orange, tangerine, purple and chartreuse bouncing off black and white.

WILDERNESS Driven by the wild and unpredictable forces of nature, the Wilderness trend focuses on the remote outdoors and wildlife that inhabits it. Materials are bark like, rugged and weathered yet still luxurious with rich tweeds, suede skins and supple furs. The palette echos a native blanket woven with Indian red, cobalt and turquoise, and based with chamois and rich soil.
