On behalf of the staff of Opthalmology Times, I would like to cordially invite you toselect a final year ophthalmology Resident from the Wilmer Eye Institute to participate in the Ophthalmology Times Resident Writer’s Award Program.

The Ophthalmology Times Resident Writer’s Award Program is a unique recognition opportunity designed to promote excellence in Cataract and Refractive education.  It was created to acknowledge outstanding case identification and written presentation skills in ophthalmology residents.

Ophthalmology Times is pleased to announce Allergan as the corporate sponsor for the 2013 Resident Writer’s Award Program.

The program consists of the following:
  • Residents will submit a Case Study to Ophthalmology Times that will include a write–up of approximately 1000 words on a Pharmacologic Dry Eye Case along with an Abstract and PowerPoint Presentation (7-9 minutes in length) by July 15, 2013.
  • Ophthalmology Times will provide basic guidelines for the Case Study submissions.
  • Papers will be reviewed based on the quality and clarity of the Case write-up.
  • The Review Board, consisting of leading ophthalmic physicians, will select the winning Case Studies.
The winners of the Ophthalmology Times Resident Writer’s Award will receive:
  • Their paper published in Ophthalmology Times.
  • A full-page ad highlighting the program and winners will run in Ophthalmology Times
  • A commemorative plaque from Ophthalmology Times and Allergan.
Selection Criteria
  • Motivated high achiever with demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Inspirational individual with a can do attitude.
  • Good student, grade level above average.
  • Able to communicate on this project via e-mail.
  • Current in basic Word and Power Point software applications.
  • Meet all deadlines and requirements of the program.
Program Deadlines & Requirements

June 1st
  • Contact Samyu Ganesh, Project Manager, Ophthalmology Times, to notify her of your nomination. Basic guidelines for submission will be given to the nominee.
July 15th
  • Submit abstract and slides to Samyu Ganesh at Ophthalmology Times.
August 15th
  • Notification of winner status. (to Chairmen only)
