About the Forum
Established in 1966, the Chromatography Forum of Delaware Valley is one of the older continuously operating discussion groups in the U.S. Dinner meetings are held each month with featured speakers at convenient locations in the Philadelphia area. In addition, an Annual Symposium, sponsorship of several awards, and well respected training courses are pro- vided by CFDV.
Annual Symposium Highlights....
- Plenary speakers who are experts in their fields
- Poster papers with Best Poster Award
- Exhibit of instruments and consumables
- Door prizes for those who visit Exhibition
- Buffet lunch provided as part of registration
- Student oral session
- Pre-day short course on analysis of protein therapeutic drugs

CFDV Short Course: The Analysis and Characterization of Protein Therapeutic Drugs, April 15, Crowne Plaza, Wilmington North, Claymont, DE
Taught by C. David Carr, Bioanalytical Technologies, the popular short course will present the current, state-of-the-art analytical technologies used to meet the challenges inherent in analyzing and characterization of complex biomolecules. Emphasis will be on chromatographic techniques. After an introduction on protein structure and protein modifications that may affect protein therapeutic drugs including glycosylation, deamidation and oxidation, the course will focus on the role of chromatography including reversed- phase, ion exchange, and size exclusion. Capillary electrophoretic techniques will be briefly discussed as will how mass spectrometry can be used to further enhance protein identification and structure. The course will be practically oriented with a minimum of theory & a maximum of examples. The attendee should leave the course with a thorough understanding of the basic principles of the many separation techniques for these important biopharmaceutical products. A course notebook will be provided for each registrant.
Course Instructor: C. David Carr. A technical short course is only as good as its instructor. David has over thirty-five years experience in the analytical technology field and is an expert in High Performance Liquid Chromatography. He is very familiar with capillary electrophoresis and mass spectrometry as applied to the analysis of polypeptides. Dave has provided instruction on HPLC and the use of HPLC in the analysis and characterization of polypeptides for many years. He has a facility for explaining the concepts and practices involved in the analysis of polypeptides in a manner that makes them clear and easy to understand. Course attendees can anticipate a very educational, yet entertaining, presentation with ample opportunity for discussion and questions.
