Leveling the Playing Field for Excipients

In collaboration with ExcipientFest Americas and the International Pharmaceutical Excipients Council (IPEC), Pharmaceutical Technology is moderating a unique roundtable May 6, 2010 on Leveling the Playing Field for Excipients. Over the past few years, industry understanding of excipient functionality and the need for novel excipients in drug development as well as excipient qualification in the supply chain has greatly increased. As a result, many excipient users and suppliers would like to see more even ground regarding the way in which excipients are used and regulated compared with active pharmaceutical ingredients and other raw materials. This forum, featuring experts from industry and standard-setting bodies around the world, will discuss these issues and ways to move forward. Participating in the roundtable are: Eric Berg of AMGEN and Rx-360; USP’s Catherine Sheehan, BASF’s Ranga Velagaleti and Sherry Ku,  Janeen Skutnik of IPEC and Pfizer, and Dale Carter of IPEC and Huber Engineered Materials. Pharmaceutical Technology Managing Editor Angie Drakulich will be moderating the event.

The June 2010 cover story of Pharmaceutical Technology will discuss the outcome of the roundtable and the key points addressed.
