EVENT OVERVIEW |
Heavy metal testing according to the USP-NF is changing from nonelement-specific screening to targeted elemental analysis. On January 1, 2018, USP General Chapters <232> Elemental Impurities—Limits, <233> Elemental Impurities – Procedures, and <2232> Elemental Contaminants in Dietary Supplements will become applicable to drug products and dietary supplements. With the introduction of these chapters new techniques of trace elemental sample preparation and sample analysis will be introduced in many laboratories, including microwave digestion, atomic absorption spectroscopy, inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectroscopy, and inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry. This webinar will provide an overview of the possible techniques and technologies for the analysis and discuss key points to consider when selecting instrumentation for the analysis of trace elements in pharmaceutical samples. |
Key learning objectives |
- A brief overview of the new general chapters.
- Which instruments can meet the analysis requirements.
- The principles of operation of these instruments.
- How to select an instrument suited to your sample types.
|
Who should attend |
- Pharmaceutical laboratory managers.
- Laboratory scientists involved in pharmaceutical preparation analysis.
- QA/QC personnel in the pharmaceutical industry.
