Mass Spec/Process Spectroscopy

Process monitoring using spectroscopic methods provides real-time actionable information to improve process control, increase product yields, and reduce energy consumption. A range of measurement technologies, from mass spectrometry to tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy, have been implemented to address a broad range of industrial applications. This session will cover:
• Matching the best measurement technology to the specific analyte(s)
• Coupling of the analyzer to the process (e.g. sampling systems, etc.)
• Process analytics to convert the spectroscopic data into process information

Emerging Technology for Spectroscopic PAT Applications

The premise of this session is to focus on novel methodologies built around spectroscopic approaches that are/could be used in PAT applications. This encompasses emerging spectroscopic techniques with the potential to be applied in a PAT environment as well as innovative ways to apply more traditional and routine spectroscopic tools to further advance PAT science.
Speakers will include representatives from: The FDA, Coherent Inc., GSK, HORIBA Scientific, Kaiser Optical Systems, and Steve Hammond Consulting.
Spectroscopic Solutions for Complex Systems/Portable, Handheld & Small Footprint Instrumentation
Chair: Jason Rodriguez, FDA
Small-footprint, portable spectrometers are transforming the way screening and testing are performed. This session examines the way these miniaturized field-deployable technologies are applied to real world settings to solve complex problems.
Speakers will include representatives from: The FDA, B&W Tek, Thermo Fisher Scientific, USP, and more.
Process Raman Symposium
Chair: Brian J. Marquardt, University of Washington/CPAC and MarqMetrix Inc.
Raman spectroscopy has been applied for process monitoring and control applications in a wide range of application fields, including bioprocessing, pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals, and food. This session will highlight the successful application of Raman for process analysis across those and other industries.
