NYEE Is Reimagining Telemedicine for a New Era of Patient Care
Long before the COVID-19 pandemic brought the widespread use of telemedicine to the forefront and accelerated
its acceptance by patients and providers alike, New York Eye and Ear Infirmity of Mount Sinai (NYEE) was already focused on bringing innovative new applications and technologies to everyday clinical practice and making it a permanent part of the patient service model.
An early adopter of telemedicine, NYEE is applying tele-consults to improve throughput and reduce wait times across our busy faculty practices and clinics. In addition, a new tele-consult program piloted across two emergency departments in the Mount Sinai Health System is upending the traditional service delivery model. Virtual ophthalmology consults
are not only improving the delivery of timely access to emergency eye care but also reducing costs.
