The Maui Derm Ohana
Ohana is the Hawaiian term for “family.” And this meeting, hosted at the tropical Grand Wailea on the southwest shore, kicks off with a Hawaiian prayer to set the tone, which embodies that family feeling throughout the week. “The camaraderie … the intimacy of a truly great educational meeting — is what Maui Derm is all about,” Dr. George Martin says.

Should you trust the SPF number?
Dr. Curtis Cole presented on controversies in photoprotection, sharing published data on the difference between the SPF number on products and actual testing results. He recommends that users apply two layers and is currently working to improve the method for SPF testing.
 
Soliton presents data for keloid, hypertrophic scar study
Medical device company Soliton presented results from a 12-week proof-of-concept study that examined its Rapid Acoustic Pulse device for the treatment of keloids and hypertrophic scars.
